There isn't much to say about this little toy. The D6 hasn't changed much over the years so it's difficult to date it. It's almost identical to the modern version but without the glass window in the end of the boiler. I've been told that the style of the burner and the patent number stamped on it's bottom indicate that it's late 50's.
The D6 is near the bottom end of Wilesco's range. A very simple engine with a single-acting oscillating cylinder, 7mm diam. x 22mm stroke. It has a simple boiler, 45mm diam. x 94mm with no indication of water level, a typical Wilesco (rather fancy looking) whistle and a bog standard safety valve and that's it. The burner is a standard Wilesco solid tablet type.
The chimney was missing on mine when I acquired it but I have since fitted a new one. It is purely decorative; not even the steam exhaust goes up it.
